Thank you for visiting the web site for Dr. Jimmy Arnold's office.
Dr. Arnold is an Endodontist. Any dentist can do a root canal just as any MD can treat a heart condition. Specialists receive extensive additional education, training, and experience in their chosen field and are the best choice for the more complicated procedures in dentistry and medicine. Endodontists are Specialist dentist who have completed a minimum of 2 additional years of post-graduate education specializing in diagnosing tooth pain, performing root canals, and, if needed, surgery on the roots of teeth. As an endodontist, Dr. Arnold specializes in treating problems affecting the inside of teeth where the nerve, blood vessels, and other tissue remains for the rest of your life after the tooth completes developing. This tissue is known as the dental pulp. A native of Milledgeville, Dr. Arnold was a Registered Nurse for 13 years before entering dental school in 1989 at age 34 . He graduated with honors from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry in 1993, completing a two year residency in endodontics there after serving a year on the faculty. In 1996, Dr. Arnold opened his practice in Macon, specializing in root canal procedures. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Endodontists, the Georgia Dental Association, the Central District Dental Society, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, the Kappa Lambda chapter of the dental honor society Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, as well as the Macon-Bibb County Better Business Bureau.
We’ve all heard the term "root canal," but many people aren’t really sure when or why a person would need one. Root canals, which are also known as endodontic treatment, are a safe and effective way to save a diseased or injured tooth. When the pulp becomes inflammed or infected, the tooth can begin to have varying degrees of sensitivity and eventually it will abscess. This condition is not only painful, but can also damage the jaw bone itself if not treated. In the past, a tooth with an infected pulp would most often have been removed. Now, thanks to the extremely high predictability of root canals, these teeth can almost always be saved, and often last a lifetime with proper care.
It’s no secret that some people are apprehensive about dental treatment and especially endodontic treatment. This is why Dr. Arnold's office is dedicated to patient comfort and anxiety relief. We’ve gone to great lengths to create a calming environment within our comfortable office. Our entire staff is dedicated to treating every patient like they would want to be treated if they were the patient. We treat people and not just teeth. In addition to local anesthesia, we also offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas). Here at Dr. Jimmy Arnold's office, we care about you as a person and we want to make it easier for you to receive the vital treatment you need.
